Ajay Jadeja feels the Indian team is going to have a tough time in the dressing room after the close defeat to England in the third Test at Lord’s. India almost lost after losing their 8th wicket while chasing 193. But Ravindra Jadeja hit a hard half-century and built partnerships with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj to keep India in the hunt. The match was close but Siraj’s unfortunate dismissal ended his innings and won the game for England. With India down 1-2 in the series, Jadeja said it will be tough for the team to accept the result. He told them to take a moment and handle their feelings and bounce back for the 4th Test at Old Trafford.
He said on Sony Sports Network, It’s hard to think that way when you are in the dressing room. You can’t think about it when you play and get so close. There will be disappointment and no one is more disappointed than him. A lot happened – what went wrong and what didn’t. But real teams come out of this strong, but today isn’t the day to talk about it.
It’s impossible. They’ve worked their whole lives for this, prepared for this tour, had their plans and then when you get so close and lose, it’s not easy to take. They’ve already shown us how to win from tough situations. No matter how much you try to comfort them.
Ex-India wicket-keeper Surinder Khanna feels Ravindra Jadeja should have been more aggressive on Day 5 of the 3rd Test. The visitors lost by 22 runs at Lord’s.
While chasing 193, India’s top and middle order showed little resistance to the uneven bounce on the pitch. This left Jadeja with a big job, with the team struggling at 82/7. Jadeja played a hard innings, scoring 61* off 181 balls but couldn’t get India to win.
Khanna said people won’t remember Jadeja’s innings since he couldn’t be a hero.
Khanna told IANS, We don’t have a batter who can bat with tailenders. Once he was set, he could have scored more runs. I think he’ll be thinking he could have hit more shots. When the ball gets soft, Bumrah and Siraj won’t score runs. You have to win the match and be a hero. People will forget this 60 (61) not out.
