Young Indian opening batter Prithvi Shaw who was the part of the Northamptonshire Cricket Club was unexpectedly ruled out due to an unfortunate knee injury. The 23-year-old batsman got injured while fielding in a match against Durham.
The latest scan results indicate that the injury’s seriousness is higher than initially anticipated and it has forced him to pull out from the remaining period of his time with the club.
Shaw’s performance has been brilliant on the field in this One Day Cup. Shaw is the top run-scorer with an impressive total of 429 runs in four innings. He also played a record-breaking 244 against Somerset. Yet, his impact went beyond his on-field performance. Teammates praised his dedication and passion for winning.
Head coach of Northamptonshire John Sadler expressed his disappointment over the omission of Shaw.
While talking to nccc.co.uk, he said,”In his short stint, Prithvi has made a huge impact on us as a club. It’s a huge shame he won’t be with us for the remainder of this comp.”
He also said that as Shaw is out of the tournament now, it is very hard to fill the void of this player.
“As well as his performances on the field he had a huge impact in our dressing room, Nobody wanted to win a game more than him and he really contributed to us doing so. We wish him well and hope to see him scoring runs again soon,” Sadler further stated.
