After Sam Billings, now Australian ODI and Test Captain, Pat Cummins has withdrawn his name from the IPL 2023 citing the packed schedule next year. He was part of KKR and he decided not to give his name in the retention list for IPL 2023.
Pat Cummins announced this on his official Twitter handle and explained that he wants to focus on the Ashes Series and ODI World Cup happening next year in India. He also thanked the KKR management for understanding the situation of him not participating in IPL 2023.
The Australian captain said,”I’ve made the difficult decision to miss next year’s IPL. The international schedule is packed with Tests and ODI’s for the next 12 months, so I will take some rest ahead of an Ashes series and World Cup.”
He further added,”Thanks so much to @KKRiders for their understanding. Such a terrific team of players and staff and I hope I can get back there ASAP.”
Before Pat Cummins, Sam Billings also pulled out from the tournament saying he wants to play for Kent in order to focus on his test career.
