Former Australian wicket-keeper batter Adam Gilchrist has stated the star Indian batter Virat Kohli. Gilchrist said that the stage is set for Virat Kohli to come and shine with the bat in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.
Virat Kohli is looking to play a pivotal role as India’s most influential batsman in the 2023 World Cup given his previous participation in three World Cup editions. The 34-year-old is entering this prestigious event in excellent form and is just three centuries away from surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 50 ODI centuries.
While having a conversation with news.com.au, the former wicket-keeper batter said, “It’s set up well for him. And they’ll be very, very tough to beat in India. I think they start as favourites but Australia and England could pose pretty big challengers to them. Kohli strikes me as a character that will mentally build himself up and be ready to go and fire in this one.”

Talking about Australia, Gilchrist said that Australia has a long experience of playing on Indian soil. Not only this, but they also have players like David Warner, Pat Cummins, and Steve Smith who will share their advice with the youngsters.
“I think one of their (Australia’s) great strengths is their experience. Just the knowledge they’ve got, the time they’ve played in India, be it in T20 franchise cricket and just the amount of touring Australia has done in India.
