Abhishek Sharma reveals about his chat with Digvesh Rathi after both were involved in a heated argument

Abhishek Sharma from Sunrisers Hyderabad recently spoke about his heated exchange with Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi during their IPL 2025 game on Monday. After Abhishek got out, Digvesh celebrated with his signature notebook routine, which upset Abhishek, leading to some heated words between them. The situation cooled down when the umpires stepped in, and they exchanged handshakes after the game.

“I chatted with him after the match, and everything’s cool now. If we had batted first, maybe I would have approached it differently. Chasing a big total like that comes with a clear plan. Any player will tell you, if you’re aiming to chase down over 200 runs, winning the powerplay is crucial. I wanted to give it my all because if I do well, the team will do well too. That’s been my approach in international cricket as well—just play my game and keep things rolling,” Abhishek said during the presentation ceremony.

Rishabh Pant reflected on their team’s struggles after they got knocked out of the IPL 2025 playoffs, despite their six-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants. “It could have been one of our best seasons, but we faced a lot of challenges, including injuries. We decided not to dwell on that, but it was tough to overcome those setbacks. If we had our full squad at the auction, it might have been different. But that’s cricket—sometimes things go well, and sometimes they don’t. We take pride in how we played and focus more on the positives than the negatives.”

He added, “Our batting lineup is strong and has enough firepower, which is definitely a positive. Our bowlers have also shown promise, but there were times they were inconsistent. We recognized we fell short by about 10 runs, especially since the pitch was playing well. We have played well in patches, but we’ve struggled to maintain that momentum.”

Pant noted that while they had a solid first half of the season, the second half became more challenging. He also praised Rathi, saying, “He’s done well in his first season, and he’s one of the bright spots for us. But we need to keep improving and get even better in the coming seasons.”
