Former Indian cricket team player Aakash Chopra had a fun take on Rohit Sharma acting as the Impact Player for Mumbai Indians in their latest IPL game against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday. Rohit has been in every match as the Impact Player, stepping back from fielding duties. In this game, he opened the batting but was replaced by Jasprit Bumrah on the field just before the break. Chopra joked that every kid dreams of batting more than bowling, and Rohit is living that dream this season, saying, “Rohit Sharma isn’t fielding anymore. I read somewhere that kids want to bat, not bowl, and that’s exactly what Rohit is doing. He bats, scores runs, and then Bumrah takes his spot on the field.”
After the win against Lucknow, MI captain Hardik Pandya praised debutant Corbin Bosch for his strong all-round performance at the Wankhede Stadium. Corbin made a crucial contribution with 20 runs off just 10 balls, including two fours and a six, and also took one wicket while allowing only 26 runs in his four overs.
Hardik shared, “We’re carrying forward the momentum. Everyone’s stepping up. The kids created a great vibe for us, and we wanted to do it for them. Bosch hit some big sixes, and all the bowlers were on point. Good teams work well together, and everyone’s playing their part. I bowl when needed, and today was the perfect chance for Bosch to showcase his skills. This tournament is tough, and we need to stay grounded, prepare for the next game, and keep our momentum going.”
Corbin has played 86 T20 matches, took 59 wickets, and scored as high as 81 runs. He was part of the South African U-19 team that won the World Cup in 2014 and was named Player of the Match in the final with an impressive 4/15 spell. He has been consistent in domestic cricket and debuted for the national team in 2024.
