Aakash Chopra Remarks The Biggest Threat For 2023 ODI World Cup And It’s Not A Team Or Player

The ODI World Cup, which will be held in India later this year, won’t be as exciting, in Aakash Chopra’s opinion, if the games are held on dull pitches.

On Tuesday, January 24, in the third and final ODI against New Zealand, team India set a grand 386-run target. The hosts then won by 90 runs and sealed a 3-0 whitewash by bowling out Tom Latham and company for 295 runs.

Aakash Chopra took to his youtube channel and showed his disappointment over the pitch and grounds after the third game against New Zealand. He said, “If ODI cricket is played on such pitches, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma are going to hit a lot. Usually, both will hit in the same match, or else at least one will hit. The day both of them get out early, Kohli will destroy you. These pitches are not great for cricket.”

Aakash Chopra personally feels that getting huge scores in all the matches is not good at all. He explained, “If you want only hitting, you will get more such pitches. I feel it is not a good thing because when the World Cup happens here, 400 runs will be scored easily. 400 runs is not a great game.”

Before the ODI World Cup 2023, Aakash Chopra issued a caution for the game and said, “Once in a while it is okay but if you see the last six matches, three each against Sri Lanka and New Zealand – Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad and then here – you are reaching close to 400. The ODI World Cup will happen for sure, India will start as runaway favorites but the matches might not be that interesting.”
