Aakash Chopra Picks Number 6 Batter For Team India In 2023 ODI World Cup

Former Indian opener and one of the renowned commentators Aakash Chopra has talked about the tentative squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. According to Aakash Chopra, Hardik Pandya is undoubtedly a top choice for the No. 6 batting position in India’s ODI World Cup 2023 squad due to his exceptional all-round abilities.

The ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place in India from October 5 to November 19. Currently, the Indian cricket team is in the West Indies for a three-match ODI series, and Hardik Pandya is among the all-rounders selected in the 17-member squad for the series.

While talking to his youtube channel, Chopra talked about the potential middle-order options for India for the upcoming ODI World Cup. While naming Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul as the best candidates for the No. 4 and No. 5, he chose Pandya at No. 6.

“Then I will say Hardik at No. 6 because your story at four, five and six looks solid. There are no question marks over Hardik’s availability. The only question over Hardik is how much bowling fit he is. If he is bowling, [he] walks into the team any which way.”

Talking further, he said that it could create problem for Pandya if he is not enough fit to bowl.

“However, if he is not bowling, there is a concern about who will be the sixth bowling option. You can play five bowlers after the No. 6, but you need a sixth bowling option.”
