Aakash Chopra Names The Fourth Fast Bowling Option For India In 2023 ODI World Cup

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has given his support to Shardul Thakur as the fourth fast bowler choice for India in the upcoming ODI World Cup this year.

Since his debut in international cricket, Thakur has emerged as a standout performer for India in the recently concluded ODI series versus the West Indies. The right-arm fast bowler impressed with his performance and grabbed a total of eight wickets across the three ODIs. His best figures came in the crucial final match of the series where he claimed 4 wickets at an expense of 37 runs.

While talking to his official Youtube Channel, Aakash Chopra marked Shardul Thakur as the fourth bowling option in the upcoming 50-over World Cup.

Aakash Chopra said,”That is what it seems like as of now. He has picked up a lot of wickets. Bumrah, Siraj, Shami and Shardul Thakur – I feel these four fast bowlers will be a part of India’s 15 in the World Cup.”

The former opener further added,”Shardul gives you a little batting and he is also a wicket-taker. He might bowl full, short or wide, but whatever he bowls, he picks up wickets. We all bow down to Lord Thakur. There are extremely bright chances of the Lord being in my team.”

Shardul Thakur has played 38 ODIs for India in which he has grabbed 58 wickets at an economy of 6.16.
