A student of engineering college involved in sending threats to Gautam Gambhir

Reports say that 21-year-old Jigneshsinh Parmar, an engineering student from Gujarat, has been questioned for allegedly sending a death threat to Gautam Gambhir, the Indian men’s cricket team head coach. The Central District Police have picked him up on a Friday for probing, but according to their family, he has been having mental-related issues.

The police in Delhi have said that the mail was a threatening thing that came from a bogus Gmail account, and they are further going to investigate the matter. Deputy Commissioner of Police M Harsha Vardhan spoke about the case, just by saying that Parmar is a student cum referred to family claims related to mental health problems. They continue with their investigation.

This event happened on the same day when terrorism caused a massacre of 26 people in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Gambhir received a pair of threatening emails on April 22, which chillingly contained the words “I kill you.”

The police have confirmed to have received a complaint on the threat, through email, aimed at Gambhir. Extract of which reads; “Dear Sir, Namaskar. As discussed with you, below are the ‘Threat Mails’ received on the email ID of Mr. Gautam Gambhir (former MP), Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Kindly prepare the FIR and ensure the security of his family.”

It’s worth to note that Gautam Gambhir made the most important contributions in the cricket history of India, including playing a significant role in carrying India to the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011. He joined the team last year as head coach and recently took them to win the Champions Trophy in Dubai. This is not the first time that Gambhir has faced such threats; in 2022, he received some similar threats and increased his security.
