“If Sunil Narine can go for runs…” Rovman Powell huge take on Sunil Narine

Rovman Powell said that he tried to instill belief in the camp by taking on KKR’s most prominent bowler, Sunil Narine, for runs. RR needed 62 runs in their final four overs. Rovman Powell went after Sunil Narine, hitting him for two sixes and one boundary.

Sunil Narine dismissed Rovman Powell in the same over and got out, scoring 26 of just 13 balls.
In his post-match presentation, Rovman Powell said, ““In T20 cricket, a lot of people don’t get credit for playing impactful innings. A lot of technology is there that gives data to innings that guys play, but not a lot of data and technology is there to pick up the impact, a 20 off 10 or a 30 off 15.”

Rovman Powell further added, “I started by trying to take down Sunil as their main bowler and give the guys the belief that if Sunil can go for runs, then anybody can go for runs. And that fuelled right through the group.”

Rovman Powell added 57 runs along with Jos Buttler to keep RR in the hunt. He said that he kept talking with Jos Buttler to take the game deep in spite of not getting fluent in the early part of the inning.

Talking about the same, Powell said,I was there with Jos, and I told him, ‘Just relax. I will try to hit a few sixes’ because he was trying to hit the ball but wasn’t connecting. So, I tried to hit the sixes, and if I got out, ‘you would take on’ the mantle of trying to score those big sixes.”
