Nat Sciver Brunt gets ruled out of 3rd T 20, this star named captain

Nat Sciver-Brunt, England’s usual captain, will not play in at least the third T20I against India women at the Oval in London on Friday, July 4.

England said that Sciver-Brunt got a left groin injury during the second T20I and will get more tests to see if she can play in the Oval T20I. Tammy Beaumont, a veteran batter who came back to T20I in this series, will be captain instead of Sciver-Brunt on Friday.

The test results will show if Sciver-Brunt needs to miss more games in the series. The fourth T20I is on Wednesday, July 9, at Old Trafford, said an ECB statement. Maia Bouchier, an all-rounder, has taken Sciver-Brunt’s place in the team for the third T20I.

England must win on Friday to stay in the series. India has given them two shocking losses in a row, first in Nottingham and then in Bristol with a comeback in the second T20I. England’s fielding was better in the second T20I, but they lost their way after the powerplay. Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur made a stand of 93 runs for the fourth wicket, winning the match.

England needs to play much better with both bat and ball to put pressure on India and extend the series beyond the third T20I. Sciver-Brunt’s absence will leave a big hole for England, so Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Beaumont, and Amy Jones need to step up.

India, on the other hand, wants to secure the series at the Oval on Friday after good all-around play in the first two matches.

England Women squad for 3rd T20I: Sophia Dunkley, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge, Maia Bouchier, Tammy Beaumont (c), Amy Jones(w), Alice Capsey, Em Arlott, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Linsey Smith, Lauren Bell, Charlotte Dean, Issy Wong, Paige Scholfield
