2023 ODI World Cup: South Africa Beat New Zealand By Huge 190 Runs, Gains No.1 Position In Points Table

In the 32nd match of the 2023 ODI World Cup, South Africa beat New Zealand by 190 runs. After this win, SA has reached the top position in the points table of the tournament. In the match, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl first.

While batting first, South Africa posted a mammoth target of 357 runs at the loss of four wickets in the allotted 50 overs. For South Africa, Quinton de Cock scored 114 runs while Rassie Van der Dussen scored the maximum 133 runs in 188 balls which includes nine fours and five sixes. Star batter David Miller also contributed with 53 runs in just 30 balls with the help of two fours and four sixes.

For New Zealand, Tim Southee grabbed two wickets, while Trent Boult and Jimmy Neesham got one wicket each.

New Zealand faced a struggle when they entered to chase the huge target. They lost their first wicket in the form of Devon Conway(2), while in-form Rachin Ravindra got out when the team’s score was 45 runs. After this Kiwis lost their wicket at regular intervals. The team was bundled out on 167 runs in 35.3 overs.

For New Zealand, Glenn Phillips scored the maximum 60 runs, while Will Young contributed with 33 runs.

For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj grabbed the maximum four wickets for the team. Marco Jansen got three wickets while Gerald Coetzee got two wickets, Kagiso Rabada also contributed with one wicket.
