Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan thinks that Rohit Sharma has embraced the most amazing leadership style compared to all other captains in the current World Cup.
India has secured victory in their initial three matches of the competition, securing the top position on the points table. They are currently leading ahead of New Zealand based on their net run rate. Next up, they are set to take on Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday, October 19.
While talking to Star Sports, Irfan Pathan responded to a question when he was asked about Rohit Sharma defending the balls in nets.
Irfan Pathan said,”This is a backfoot punch for four. It is his timing. He is in very good form. The way he is leaving deliveries, it means he is not just coming and playing carelessly in the nets, and just playing the big shots.”
The all-rounder further added,”He is going with full confidence into the practice but is still respecting the balls that need to be respected, but Rohit Sharma has adopted the most aggressive approach among all captains in this World Cup, which is not easy.”
After being dismissed for a duck in India’s first World Cup match against Australia, Sharma rebounded with an impressive performance and scored 131 runs from 84 deliveries in their second game against Afghanistan. He continued his excellent form with a score of 86 from 63 balls in India’s most recent match against Pakistan.
