2023 ODI World Cup: Ibrahim Zadran Dedicates His Player Of The Match Award To Afghan Refugees Excluded From Pakistan

In the 22nd match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, Afghanistan did wonders and beat their arch-rivals Pakistan by eight wickets. In this match, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, Pakistan set a target of 283 runs which Afghanistan chased down in 49 overs at the loss of two wickets.

Ibrahim Zadran delivered an outstanding performance with the bat for the Afghan team, playing a brilliant innings of 87 runs from 113 deliveries to complete their chase of 283 runs in 49 overs.

The 21-year-old received the well-deserved Player of the Match award for his stellar performance. During the post-match interview, the young opener dedicated his award to the Afghan refugees who had been excluded from Pakistan, expressing his support and solidarity with them.

During the post-match presentation, Gurbaz said, “I would like to dedicate this POTM award to the people who were sent back from Pakistan to Afghanistan,” said Gurbaz in the post-match presentation.”

It is the third victory for Afghanistan in this ODI World Cup and the first one against Pakistan in the 50-over format.

Choosing to bat first, Pakistan managed to accumulate a respectable total of 282/7 in their designated 50 overs, Babar Azam played an innings of 74 runs from 92 deliveries.
