2023 ODI World Cup: Big Blow For Australia, Star All-rounder Likely To Miss The Game Against India

India and Australia will start their 2023 ODI World Cup campaign against each other on October 8. The match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. However, before this clash, Australia had a major setback.

According to the team management, the star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis won’t be available for the match against Rohit Sharma and team. If it happens, Cameron Green will make a sureshot entry to the playing XI.

The Australian all-rounder, Marcus Stoinis may not be able to play in their initial World Cup match against India, set to take place at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, October 8.

While having a conversation to foxsports.com.au on Thursday, head coach Andrew McDonald said,”Touch and go. He certainly hasn’t been ruled out of that, but we weren’t prepared to risk him in those practice games.”

He also said,”We‘ve got the main session today and then another hit out tomorrow, so he’ll go through his work there and we’ll see whether he’s available for selection for game one. These next couple of days (are) really important for him to press for selection for game one, and we‘ll see how that unfolds.”

After Travis Head now Marcus Stoinis has also joined the injury list of Australian players. Stoinis has played 64 matches so far in which he has scored 1400 runs and also grabbed 44 wickets.
