2023 ODI World Cup: Aakash Chopra Praised Malan, Root And Bairstow After A Blockbuster Batting Show Against Bangladesh

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has praised the dominating cricket by England Cricket Team in the match against Bangladesh. In this match, the English team beat Bangladesh by a huge margin of 227 runs.

Batting first at Dharmashala, Jos Buttler and company set a target of 365 runs. While chasing the target, Bangladesh batters did not look settle and they were bundled out on 227 runs.

While talking about the game on his official YouTube Channel, Chopra lauds Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root for putting up a solid foundation.

He said,”Bangladesh opted to bowl first after winning the toss with the thinking that the pitch was going to be slow and would get better for batting later. Bairstow and Malan said it would be good for them as well.”

The former cricketer said,”Malan scored nearly 150, and Bairstow also gave a good start. It seemed at one stage a wicket might not fall at all. It seemed at one stage England might score 400 runs. When Bairstow got out, Root started hitting.”

In this match, Malan scored 140 runs, Joe Root got 82 runs while Jonny Bairstow contributed with solid 52 to reach a mammoth total of 364 runs.

Aakash Chopra also highlighted that England might have crossed 400-run mark but due to some quick wicket fall they were restricted to around 350 score.

“However, a few wickets fell after that – Jos Buttler, Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone. Bangladesh made a good comeback, but England had already made so many runs that it was almost impossible to control the game.”
